The PAC, as it is frequently called, continues to broaden its audience demographics to include all age groups and socio-economic ranges. Its mission is to provide quality venues and performing arts for the Highlands Cashiers community. Targeted populations include children and youth and local year-round residents.
About Us
Mountain Theatre Company is Western North Carolina’s premier professional theatre company. Mountain Theatre Company produces live theatrical productions from June through December. In 2023, Mountain Theatre Company became the resident professional theatre company at the Highlands Performing Arts Center.
The Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival enhances the cultural life of Western North Carolina by sponsoring performances by acclaimed musicians and promoting education, outreach and audience development programs that foster an appreciation of chamber music.

What makes the Highlands Cashiers Players special is we are the areas only all-volunteer, not-for-profit theatre organization that always welcomes inexperienced and experienced actors all the same. We also encourage anyone who might want to help out in other areas that are just as vital, such as directors, technical staff, set designers and builders, backstage assistants, box office personnel, and hospitality providers.
