Andrew Prine's Bio

Appearing on Broadway, Andrew Prine soared to recognition in the leading performance as Thomas Wolfe in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play LOOK HOMEWARD ANGEL. His next major role was as James Keller, brother of Helen Keller, in the Academy Award-winning film THE MIRACLE WORKER with Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft. Mr. Prine has worked with Hollywood legends John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, William Holden, Glenn Ford, Dean Martin, Ben Johnson, Carl Reiner, Raquel Welch, Richard Boone, and Kim Hunter. When Westerns were king on television, he guest starred almost every week on all the shows, including GUNSMOKE and BONANZA. His appearance in Western theatrical feature films includes CHISUM, BANDOLERO!, TEXAS ACROSS THE RIVER, and GETTYSBURG.  On television  Prine starred several war dramas, and in the feature film THE DEVIL’S  BRIGADE, he had to learn to ski while filming in Italy with an all-star cast that included William Holden and Cliff Robertson. Andrew starred in several television series, beginning with Earl Holiman in WIDE COUNTY,  with Barry Sullivan in THE ROAD WEST, and  W.E.B., portraying network executive Dan Costello. Adept at comedy, he costarred in the series WEIRD SCIENCE and starred in the Sci-Fi mini-series, V. Quentin Tarantino wrote a two-part special on CSI directly for Andrew and Mr. Tarantino won the Emmy.

A member of the prestigious Actor's Studio, Andrew's work includes LONG DAY’S   JOURNEY INTO NIGHT with Charlton Heston and Deborah Kerr, THE CAINE MUTINY directed by Henry Fonda, and received two Dramalogue Critics Awards for Best Actor for the leading role, Sam Shepard's BURIED CHILD. He also received the Golden Boot for his extensive work in Westerns.

Andrew Prine has displayed his acting range by portraying a variety of characters in a long career and has delighted fans of many genres, Westerns, Military, Science Fiction, and Horror, and he is considered one of Hollywood's most consummate actors.
