About the Program

The PAC Educational Theatre is not a traditional community theatre. It is a training program built on a simple belief: the more you do it, the better you get. Just as a dancer takes class after class or an athlete trains season after season, theatre arts training is most effective when students are repeatedly and consistently exposed to its vocabulary, techniques, and collaborative spirit.

  • Weekly workshops guide participants through acting, improvisation, pantomime, voice projection, stage movement, singing, dancing, choreography, stage combat, technical theatre, and scenic design.

  • Instruction is grounded in building each participant's confidence and self-esteem, creating a supportive environment where students discover their own strengths and those of their fellow performers.

  • By production time, all of these elements come together in a full Broadway-style musical.

  • Everyone who registers and completes the workshops is guaranteed a role in the production.

  • Casts range in age from 5 to 99

  • A $100 workshop fee covers instruction, with production costs fully grant funded.

  • The program offers free performances for area schools on the Highlands PAC Main Stage, bringing live theatre to young audiences who might not otherwise experience it.

Program Goals

“Being part of the PAC Educational Theatre production of Shrek the Musical alongside my son was an experience I’ll never forget. Watching him—and all the young performers—grow in confidence and talent filled me with pride. None of it would have been possible without the incredible dedication and heart that Erik Bishop and Lee Trevathan poured into this show. It was truly something special.”

— Everett Wright, Shrek
