HCFF: Trail Mix

Free event! No tickets required.

Location: The Village Green in Cashiers

The 2025 Audience Choice Award winner will be shown at the PAC in Highlands and at the Village Green in Cashiers on Saturday, June 20th! The director and filmmaker Glenn Sweitzer will be at both events to discuss the film and answer questions.

The 50-minute documentary follows a 2,000-mile journey from Georgia to Maine along the Appalachian Trail. The film focuses on the "transformative power of nature," interviewing a diverse range of hikers—including military veterans with PTSD, grieving widowers, and troubled teens—who seek healing and clarity in the wilderness.

The film began as a project in May 2018 and was partially inspired by the story of Cheryl Strayed’s book/movie Wild. What was initially curiosity became a strong pull, a “calling” to go into the woods and interview some of the hikers and discover the source of their healing and transformation.

Nu-Blu

Nu-Blu

This band hailing from Siler City, North Carolina the textbook definition of a picturesque small southern town, Nu-Blu’s heart and soul is husband-and-wife duo Daniel and Carolyn Routh. Carolyn’s caramel-coated soprano is one of the band’s defining traits, at times a tender lullaby, at times a freight train headed straight for you, but always unwinding a surprising tale. Daniel is the group’s backbone, a multi-instrumentalist and backing vocalist who also handles band management. Austin Hefflefinger on banjo, guitar, and vocals, and Justin Harrison on mandolin, fiddle, and percussion round out the quartet’s warm, layered, Appalachian sound. Together they deliver upbeat, blazing-fingers pick work just as well as gentle, heartwarming ballads, and they do it all with a natural togetherness that can’t be faked, forged over hundreds of shows on the road.

National Theatre Live: All My Sons

Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths) feature in a five-star, triumphantly acclaimed new production of Arthur Miller’s classic play, from visionary director Ivo Van Hove (A View from the Bridge).

One family, the heart of the American dream. When wartime delivers profits for Joe, it comes at a price when his partner is charged with criminal manufacturing deals, and his eldest son goes missing in action. Will peacetime bring peace of mind, or will he be confronted by the consequence of his actions?

Filmed live from the West End, Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Tom Glynn-Carney (House of the Dragon), and Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake) also feature in this disturbingly prescient play.

  • Please note: this is a pre-recorded live performance.

  • PAC's Live On Screen Series

  • General Admission

  • Screening will be in the Martin Lipscomb Theatre.
